HCC began with a God-given vision of the pastor of Island Pond Baptist Church in Hampstead, NH.   The vision included a vast number of people who lived in the city of Haverhill that were not being ministered to.  In 1993, through much prayer and planning, God began a work for HCC.  What began as a small Bible study at a church member’s house grew until God provided a rental property on the third floor of a building in Lafayette Square.  Forty people were commissioned and sent out to begin God’s work in this city.

Haverhill Community Church’s first service was on October 31, 1994 with sixty people in attendance.  This church start was fondly known as the “Big Bang Church”.   Our congregation then began renting a vacant church on Newcomb Street until a generous donation was made that helped with the purchase of the building and Haverhill Community Church now had a place to call home.

With the God-given vision now becoming realized, HCC set out to do what God had brought us here to do.  Our mission was and continues to be to reach as many people for Christ as God will provide opportunities.  At HCC, we make ourselves available for those opportunities to minister to those that are hurting.  Our mission reaches in the streets of Haverhill with our annual Blockparty, into the local nursing homes for weekly visitations and bi-weekly services, into the parks for summer VBS, and into the community of those around us with a Sunday morning breakfast open to those that need a cup of coffee, a small bite to eat, and a warm smile.

Our prayer is to reach the people in our community and to show them the love of Christ as well as provide a sanctuary of compassion and mercy by sharing the wonderful truth and hope that rests in the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior.
